Top Malaysia Universities

Why study in a Muslim country like Malaysia?

Malaysia lets Muslim students keep their daily practice without effort while studying for an internationally recognised degree. These are the reasons students and parents most often give.

  • Halal food everywhere Campus cafΓ©s and the food courts and stalls around most universities serve halal food, so you do not have to check every meal.
  • Mosques and prayer rooms close by Most campuses have a mosque or surau, and prayer rooms are common in libraries and lecture buildings. Friday prayers, Ramadan iftar and Eid are part of campus life.
  • A comfortable community Hijab and modest dress are normal, Muslim student societies are active, and the call to prayer is part of daily life, so you are not the one who has to explain.
  • English-taught degrees and recognised quality Many programmes are taught in English, and the degrees of accredited universities are recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Several universities in this list appear in the QS World University Rankings.
  • Lower living costs and easy travel Living costs are generally lower than in the UK, Australia or North America, and Malaysia is a short flight from the rest of Asia. Check each university for fees and the student pass (EMGS) requirements.
