Salak (Snake Fruit)
Named for its remarkable reddish-brown scaly skin, which peels off like a snake's. Inside are firm ivory lobes with a dry, crunchy bite and a flavour somewhere between pineapple, apple and banana with a tannic finish. Unlike anything else you'll eat in Southeast Asia.
